Leroy Brown

Leroy Brown (also known as Bad Bad Leroy Brown) is the tile of a 1972 Jim Croce song that is in a classic shuffle style, with the drums playing a long-short pattern (triplets notated here as a dotted 8th, 16th note pattern):


The bass player plays tonic dominant four to a bar, while the guitar plays a bluesy  gospel figure:


The teacher part for Trucking Along from American Popular Piano Level 4 doubles the bass and plays a more primitive version of the guitar part. It really does “truck along”:
